As far as geography isconcerned.cultivating students' thinking ability in geography is an important part of geography teaching activities.As an important part of geography teaching materials for senior high schools,geographic images can convey geographic information through intuitive forms and play a unique role in geography classroom teaching activities.The process of reading geographical images,obtaining required geographical inf-ormation and learning to use geographical information plays an important role in cultivating students'geographical thinking ability.Therefore,how to make better use of geographical images to cultivate students' geographical thinking ability has become the focus of this study.Firstly,based on constructivism theory,triangular model of thinking structure,Dell's tower of experience and multiple intelligence theory,the present situation of image teaching and the cultivation of geographical thinking ability are investigated and analyzed by the methods of literature collection,questionnaire and interview.Secondly,on the basis of the analysis of the current situation,this paper puts forward the teaching strategy of cultivating the geographical thinking ability by using geographical images according to different geographical thinking ability.Then,in order to further explain how to cultivate students'geographical thinking ability in geographical image teaching,the textbook content is selected for case design and explanation.Finally,an empirical study is carried out on the proposed image teaching strategy.The main research is as follows:(1)The current situation of the cultivation of students' geographical thinking ability.Through the questionnaire,it is found that the students'geographical thinking ability is poor.Image skills need to be improved and there are difficulties and problems in map learning.From the teacher's point of view:young teachers lack understanding of the cultivation of geographical thinking ability by using geographical images;Teachers use geographical images in class to help students learn geographical knowledge and understand the content of teaching materials,and lack of guidance on students' thinking and methods.(2)The teaching strategy of high school geography image based on the cultivation of geography thinking ability.The image teaching strategy mainly starts from the core elements of geographical thinking ability,and proposes image teaching strategies based on geographical space thinking ability,image thinking ability and logical thinking ability respectively.The strategies for cultivating the thinking ability based on geographical space mainly include:strengthening the drawing of graticule map to improve the spatial positioning ability:Contrast images to develop spatial differences and connectivity';Using dynamic graph,the spatial movement and changes are analyzed.The strategies for cultivating thinking ability based on geographical images mainly include:accumulating images and enriching image materials;Hand-painted sketch map,cultivate the habit of drawing;Simplify maps and develop students'image processing ability.The image teaching strategies based on the cultivation of geographical logical thinking ability include:constructing a mind map to enhance the comprehensive analysis ability;Combine images to improve students'logical thinking ability.(3)An empirical study is made on the image teaching strategy based on the cultivation of geographical thinking ability.According to the test results of the experimental class and the control class,it is concluded that the geography image teaching strategy can promote the development of geography thinking ability.Most of the students think that their geographical thinking ability has been improved.
