The Feasibility Study Of Yangzhou High School Offering Optional Yoga Classes

The national high school physical education and health curriculum standards(2017 edition)lists emerging sports as compulsory subjects.Yoga focuses on self-cultivation,internal and external cultivation,which enables students to achieve harmony and unity of body,mind and spirit,enhance physique and relieve pressure.It has become a fashionable and popular way of exercise.As a new type of sports,it is obviously a meaningful teaching attempt to offer yoga options in high school.This research is mainly conducted by questionnaires,interviews,document study,logic analysis and other methods.The research focuses on the set up of sports curriculum,students'attitudes towards the optional yoga courses,teacher resources,equipment and the yoga lessons'influence on school culture,etc.and analyses the feasibility of Yangzhou high school optional yoga courses.The conclusions are as follows:(1)The physical education curriculum of Yangzhou high schools basically meets the requirements of the new curriculum standard of 2017.Yangzhou senior high school physical education curriculum goal setting is reasonable,physical education teaching content is diverse and rich,but there is still room to improve the popularity of physical education options.(2)Mosthigh school students in Yangzhou have great interest in and demand for yoga optional classes,and hope to exercise body and mind and slim body through yoga practice.The attitudes,interests and motivations of the students indicate the feasibility of offering an optional yoga class in Yangzhou.(3)There are a few PE teachers in senior high schools in Yangzhou who have received the professional learning of yoga.Some teachers have a certain understanding of yoga and have received the relevant training of yoga.Most teachers are willing to carry out yoga teaching in class,which provides sufficient teacher guarantee for offering optional yoga classes.(4)From the objective conditions and subjective evaluation,it can be seen that the sports facilities and equipment conditions of Yangzhou high school can meet the requirements for the establishment of yoga option classes,and the existing site facilities and equipment conditions provide hardware support for the establishment of yoga option classes.The establishment of yoga optional classes can also enrich the connotation of sports culture and create a campus cultural atmosphere.(5)When we offer yoga optional courses in Yangzhou high school,there will be a shortage of professional teachers,few opportunities for teachers to participate in yoga training,insufficient attention from leaders and insufficient funds.Based on the above research results,the following Suggestions are proposed:(1)Yangzhou senior high school further deepens the reform of physical education curriculum and teaching,coordinates and comprehensively develops the sports ability,healthy behavior and sports character of Yangzhou senior high school students according to the requirements of the new curriculum standard;At the same time,the course content should be constantly updated,and more emerging sports projects should be opened(2)In order to meet students' interests and needs for physical and mental development,senior high schools in Yangzhou should reasonably offer optional yoga classes.(3)When conditions permit,senior high schools in Yangzhou should train physical education teachers in relevant skills and teaching methods,train professional yoga teachers and improve their abilities by means of yoga-related training and off-campus introduction(4)Relevant schools should also carry out statistical planning of the facilities for offering optional yoga classes to pave the way for the establishment of yoga programs.(5)Experts or teachers can carry out school-based curriculum development of yoga,strengthen the research on yoga teaching methods,and provide high school teachers with abundant yoga teaching materials;expand the publicity of yoga,let the leaders know more about the benefits of yoga,so as to enable the school leaders to support the teaching of yoga optional courses,support the teachers to participate in yoga training,and ensure the funding of yoga optional courses.
