| Chinese textbook is an important carrier to transmit social culture.The ideological and moral qualities of characters in the book reflect the mainstream culture and dominant value orientation of the society,and have an important impact on the formation and development of students’ thoughts,attitudes and values.At present,the research on the characters in textbooks mostly focuses on the images of women,men and children,and there is little research on the images of fathers.But "father" as an indispensable role in our life,also as an important figure in literary works should be paid attention to.The Chinese textbook for compulsory education compiled by the current Ministry of Education is one of the reading carriers that students are most often exposed to.The selected text containing the image of "father" is helpful to promote students’ understanding of the father and have a positive emotional experience for the father while transferring knowledge of Chinese subjects,thus influencing students’ thoughts and emotions imperceptibly.In this paper,NVivo 11 software is used to code and analyze the texts related to father image in Chinese textbooks(all six volumes)compiled by the current Ministry,which used in the junior high schools,so as to analyze the number of father images in the textbooks,the external image such as "father" appearance,occupation,country and era,the internal image such as "father" moral image,personality image and internal psychological type,and present the research results visually.From this,it is found that the frequency of father’s image in Chinese textbook compiled by the Ministry of Education,which used in the junior high school is appropriate,but the presentation of its external image lacks pluralism and modernity,and the presentation of its internal image lacks versatility.Generally speaking,the father image in the current textbooks shows three characteristics:rigidity,lack of versatility and lack of modernity.According to the characteristics of the character "father" in the current textbooks,the author further clarifies the reasons behind it,including social and cultural expectations,male gender roles etc,and puts forward three future prospects:strengthening the diversity of the father’s external image in the selected text,improving the versatility of the father’s internal image in the selected text,and enhancing the modernity of the father’s image in the selected text,as well as three teaching suggestions,i.e.comprehensively grasping the teaching purpose,guiding supplementary reading and encouraging multiple interpretations,so as to better construct the father image in line with the students’ experience world and promote the students’ better learning and development. |
