Abstract/Summary:
The knowledge base of social work research, particularly in community capacity building has been expanding. The relationship between research and practice is evident when one considers that social work practice requires the integration and application of research and evaluation to guide practitioners towards effective practice.;The ideas on empowerment, evaluation, and community capacity building have not been integrated or even synthesized very well. This research looks at the concepts of empowerment, evaluation, and community capacity building to create a framework to evaluate community programs that are built on community capacity building concepts.;The questions that seek to be answered are: (1) Does the current literature on community capacity building, empowerment, and evaluation provide a sufficient amount of variables for developing a framework for evaluating community capacity building efforts? (2) Can programs with community capacity building components benefit from an evaluation framework?...
