| This report focuses on the practice of mock Simultaneous Interpreting of the “Nelson Mandela Human Rights Lecture 2019”.The lecture was in the context of the Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition,which was held on Mandela International Day(July 18,2019).The interpreter excerpted four of the speakers,including Albie Sachs,former South African constitutional judge,who delivered a keynote speech on Nelson Mandela and human rights.On the basis of the three elements of Effort Model,namely the Listening and Analysis Effort(L),the Memory Effort(M)and the Production Effort(P),the interpreter classified and analyzed the challenges encountered in the task respectively,such as the output of the translation,inaccuracy and disfluency challenges was obvious,the interpreter adopted selfcorrecting,omission and reconstructing tactics and used examples to clarify.At the same time,the interpreter provided a flexible solution and detailed analysis according to different scenes for the situation that the speaker sang the folk songs of his hometown in the speech for many times,which could provide references for others.Finally,the interpreter adopted appropriate quality control and evaluation standard to summarize the advantages and disadvantages,which can provide effective guidance for future interpreting practice. |
