The pursuit of sense of meaning is the eternal theme of human beings.In ancient times,Sima Qian once left a sentence that"man is doomed to die",and in modern Coco,it is also written that"man’s final death is to be forgotten".Sense of meaning is an important affirmation of our own existence and perception.College students are in the stage of self-identity exploration,and many report feeling bored and purposeless in life.Studies have shown that pursuing and experiencing a sense of meaning in life has an indispensable role in promoting the development of mental health.Narrative orientation of group guidance based on the theory of narrative psychotherapy,through combing the visitor’s life story,the story of the skills,through the appropriate question through externalization and deconstruction of the technique for the story to intervene with problem,rewriting and good positive side story,inspire visitors to learn from each other in groups and deep thinking,arouse visitors their own inner strength.Research shows that group counselling with narrative orientation can enhance the sense of life meaning.The purpose of this study is to design a narrative oriented group counseling program,and to write new and meaningful life stories in the original confused and boring life stories of college students through narrative writing,so as to improve the sense of meaning of life of college students.Based on Wong’s Personal Meaning Checklist(PMP-B),Liang Qunjun et al.revised the Chinese version of Personal Meaning Checklist(PMP-B)to measure college students’sense of life meaning,and measured scores of different sources of their sense of life meaning.At the same time,a group counselling of the sense of life meaning with the guidance of the theory of life story and the theory of narrative therapy is designed.Narrative therapy techniques,such as problem externalization and story rewriting,were used to help participants reframe their life stories.The study recruited the students of Shihezi University by advertising,and selected 30 people with relatively low score of life meaning from 73 volunteers who participated in the group intervention as the research subjects to participate in the experiment.In order to balance the Hawthorne effect,an activity group was set up and compared with the blank control group.Thirty people were randomly divided into experimental group,activity group and blank control group.For the experimental group,the narrative oriented group counseling was used for 8 times of research intervention,for the activity group,3 times of game activity,and for the blank control group,no research intervention was carried out.The results showed that after F test,the mean of post-test score change(O4-O1)in the intervention group was significantly different from that in the control group(O5-O2),and the mean of post-test score change(O4-O1)in the intervention group was significantly different from that in the activity group(O6-O3).It shows that the intervention has achieved remarkable effect.The difference between pre-measured O1and post-measured O7in the intervention group was significant,the difference between post-measured O4and post-measured O7in the intervention group was not significant,the difference between pre-measured O2,post-measured O5and post-measured O8in the control group was not significant,and the difference between pre-measured O3,post-measured O6and post-measured O9in the activity group was not significant.It shows that the effect of group counseling is maintained well.It is found that group counseling with narrative orientation has a significant effect on the improvement of college students’sense of life meaning.After 8 times of group counseling intervention,the group members reported significant improvement in the five dimensions of total score,achievement,interpersonal relationship,self-acceptance,intimate relationship and fair treatment.After the intervention of this narrative oriented group counseling,college students reported feeling warmth and acceptance in the group and understanding their own troubles.Many people also have similar experiences,and can experience the sense of life meaning from more details in life through the integration of narrative.
