| With the increasing popularity of higher education,the employment of college graduates has been highly concerned by the society and the government.The employment problem of college graduates includes two aspects:quality and quantity.With the social development and policy guidance,the society has shown a strong demand for college graduates.But at the same time,because the overall number of college graduates is also growing rapidly,so for college graduates,the overall employment situation is still very grim.In such a situation,Improving the quality of college students has become a breakthrough to solve this problem.Lots of researches abroad have discussed about improving the employment quality of graduates from the society,universities,and individual college students.As to individual college students,a large number of studies have focused on improving the professional skills,namely cognitive ability,of college graduates.However,with the development of society,more and more graduates and employers reflect that the requirements for college graduates in the workplace are comprehensive.In recent years,the impact of non-cognitive development on the performance of the labor market has become increasingly important in the research of educational economics,while the empirical research on non-cognitive development in China is still in the initial stage of development.Based on the survey data on the employment quality and noncognitive ability of college graduates,this study measures the employment quality and non-cognitive ability of college graduates employed from 2016 to 2019,and discusses the impact of the improvement of non-cognitive level in higher education on the employment quality of college graduates.It is found that individual non-cognitive abilities of college graduates have a significant impact on income,employment stability and job matching.Therefore,governments,schools and educational institutions at all levels need to attach great importance to students’ non-cognitive development and provide integrated education for students.Finally,the following suggestions are put forward:(1)the university graduates,graduates during the period of school should be comprehensive measuring their cognitive ability,based on the cognitive assessment result of career planning as soon as possible,actively participate in the cultivation of cognitive activity,in addition to learn professional knowledge can be served as student leaders,participate in the off-campus internship and other social practice activities promote the cognitive ability in an all-round way.(2)At the university level,schools should not only pay attention to students’ learning ability,but also pay more attention to the cultivation of students’ non-cognitive ability.Actively change the educational concept,strengthen the development of the curriculum system for the cultivation of non-cognitive ability,and provide students with a comprehensive education,so that students can effectively apply the professional curriculum knowledge they have mastered to their future work.(3)At the social level,the government should increase the input of educational resources,and through publicity and education,let people realize the importance of non-cognitive ability and its impact on employment.Simultaneously,corresponding non-cognitive ability research can be carried out to deeply analyze the differences in non-cognitive ability among people from all walks of life,and relevant policies can be made.In terms of employers,Enterprises can strengthen cooperation with colleges and universities,participate in the curriculum of colleges and universities,and jointly cultivate students’ non-cognitive abilities,so as to prepare students for entering the workplace.At the same time,enterprises can also take the evaluation of noncognitive ability as an important standard for talent selection,and strengthen the training of non-cognitive ability of employees. |
