The rise of China has expanded the influence of Chinese and promoted the development of international Chinese teaching.China and the Philippines have a long history of communications.As a member of the "Belt and Road" and ASEAN countries,bilateral cooperation has continued to deepen in recent years,which made t the Philippines became the second largest Chinese language demander in Southeast Asia.In 2014,the Confucius Institute at Angeles University Foundation collaborated with the Philippine Department of Education.Mandarin was included in the public middle school foreign language teaching program and entered the classroom of middle school students.The survey found that most mandarin classes are comprehensive class in the Philippine public middle schools,and teachers prefer traditional grammar translation methods.Thus the lessons are dull and the teaching quality is low,which leads to the students' oral speaking,unable to use Chinese appropriately for communication,and the enthusiasm for learning declines.In order to help local teachers improve the teaching effect,this article conducts a task-based oral teaching experiment based on the survey of the current situation of Chinese teaching in the teaching schoolsAccording to the basic steps of the action research method,this article starts from eight aspects:finding problems,analyzing causes,proposing assumptions,making plans,implementing plans,analyzing improvements,reimplementing plans,and summarizing.Taking elementary Chinese students in three public middle schools in the new Essex Province,Philippines as the research object,students of the same level were selected as the experimental group and the control group,and two task-oriented oral teaching experiments were conducted.The experimental group adopts the task-based teaching method,while the control group still uses the grammar translation method.After the first teaching,reflect on the problems and propose solutions.After the improvement,conduct the second teaching experiment.After the two teachings,the students' oral test results show that the oral teaching effect of the task-based teaching method is better than the grammar translation method.Finally,according to the experimental results,it is recommended that local Chinese teachers change their teaching concepts,take students as the center,and use task-based teaching methods to teach students in a way that suits the characteristics of students'acquisition,so as to comprehensively improve students' Chinese ability.In view of the problems of local teacher training and other issues found in the research process,it is proposed that the Confucius Institute at Angeles University Foundation should provide more support to public middle schools in terms of local teachers' continuing education and assessment standards,and promote the development of public middle school Chinese teachingChinese teaching in public middle schools started late,teachers are weak,and teaching resources are scarce.Most of the relevant research is the cultivation of local teachers,and there are relatively few studies on local teachers' teaching methods and student acquisition.The comparative experiment of task-based spoken language teaching in this paper is of reference significance for local teachers to adjust the teaching mode,and it also adds research cases for Chinese teaching in public middle schools.
