The development of high-quality vocational education has always been considered as a key to alleviating the contradiction between labor supply and demand during the"13th Five-Year Plan" period.Hence,new requirements for secondary vocational education are put forward:secondary vocational education should not only focus on technical training,but also pay attention to the sustainable development of students"vocational capabilities.As regional integrated tourism era is coming,the requirements for professional qualities of a tourism practitioner are getting higher and higher.Therefore,"improving the overall quality and professional ability of tourism talents" is themed as the development of tourism talents in the Outline of the 13th Five-Year Plan Tourism Talent Development Plan.Under the new and serious employment situation,cultivating students' professional qualities and improving their life-long learning ability has become the key point of the teaching of tourism management in secondary vocational schools.As a discipline combined with instrumentality and humanity,Chinese subject offers students knowledge about cultures and learning tools,laying a solid foundation in cultivating improving vocational qualities and learning abilities.For the tourism major,the knowledge and skills acquired in Chinese courses are the golden key to enhancing the professional growth of tourism talents.However,in real teaching courses,Chinese is in a state of marginalization in secondary vocational schools:teachers are inefficient in teaching,while students are inefficient in learning.The main reasons for the "two inefficiencies" are:an imbalance between disciplines caused by the school-running philosophy of "emphasis on skills and ignorance of cultural courses" in secondary vocational schools;the enrollment of students getting lower scores than the average in entrance examination for many years,the decline of teaching enthusiasm.To realize the importance of Chinese in the cultivation of professional quality,it is necessary to eliminate the phenomenon of "two inefficiencies”.Taking the tourism management major in Suzhou S secondary school as a sample,this paper analyzes the status quo and causes of teaching and learning through the literature research method,questionnaire survey method and case analysis method,summarizes the elements of the professional qualities of tourism management students,and discusses effective Chinese teaching strategies to enhance students' professional qualities in secondary vocational schools.Based on students-centered and employment-oriented principles,this paper proposes basic standards that effective Chinese teaching strategies in secondary vocational schools should follow.It means students could understand knowledge in the classroom and apply what they have learnt to their future careers,which is proved by effective teaching practice in three parts including Chinese comprehensive practice activities,practical writing and oral practice.The content of this paper consists of four parts.Introduction clarifies the background of the topic,the causes of the problem and the state quos of research.Chapter one clarifies the relationship.It clarifies the relationship between Chinese teaching and cultivating of tourism profession qualities,and summarizes the key elements of professional qualities for tourism management.Chapter two is about Sample Survey.Questionnaire were carried out on four aspects:the use of teaching materials,the Chinese learning situation of secondary vocational students,the Chinese teaching situation in secondary vocational schools and the demands for talents in the tourism industry,summarizing the causes of the "two inefficiencies".Chapter three is research on teaching practice.Taking effective teaching practice in three parts including Chinese comprehensive practice activities,practical writing and oral practice as examples,it summarizes the role of Chinese in the cultivation of professional quality from three aspects:the design of Chinese activity courses,the effective integration of teaching resources,and the appropriate use of role effects,and provides specific suggestions for the effective development of Chinese teaching in secondary vocational schools.
