With the continuous deepening of the new curriculum reform,quality education has put forward higher requirements for senior high school geography teaching in the implementation process.The "General High School Geography Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition)" clearly puts forward the core literacy of geography,pointing out that the correct values,necessary qualities,and key abilities must be achieved through the study of geography.Geography is closely connected with life.As an off-campus curriculum resource,current affairs hotspot materials are contemporary and regional and are closely related to all aspects of people's production and life.They can be a supplement to geography teaching materials.This is in line with the basic concept of the 2017 edition of the new geography curriculum standard.This article uses literature research method,questionnaire survey method,and case analysis method to explore how to use current affairs hotspot materials in senior high school geography teaching to cultivate students' core literacy of geography,in order to provide some ideas for the teaching of geography teachers in frontline high school.This article first uses the literature research method to explain the current research status at home and abroad,defines the concept of current affairs hotspots and geographical core literacy,and explains the relevant theoretical basis.Then it analyzes the relevance of current affairs hotspot materials and geography and seeks the fit point of current affairs hotspot materials and the cultivation of high school geography core literacy.Then use the questionnaire survey method to carry out a survey of the application status of teachers and students on current affairs hotspot materials in high school geography teaching,and analyze its existing problems.Finally,according to the problems in the questionnaire results,the relevant strategies for the application of current affairs hotspot materials in high school geography teaching are put forward,and the case analysis method is used to make specific case designs based on current affairs materials in the Mu Us Desert.According to previous studies,it is concluded that the application of current affairs hotspot materials in senior high school of geography teaching has great feasibility.However,due to the heavy workload of teachers,lack of time,fear of delays in teaching progress,and lack of development skills,teachers do not consciously use current affairs hotspot materials frequently,and have insufficient awareness and penetration of geographic core literacy.Students are not paying enough attention to current affairs hotspot materials.Some students don't see the problem deeply enough,They unable to deeply analyze the relationship with geographic knowledge,and lack the ability of geographic thinking.Based on the principles of authenticity,geography,and validity in collecting current affairs hotspot materials,this article uses 2020 as an example to classify current affairs hotspot materials.In order to cultivate geographic core literacy,this article apply some suggestions in geography teaching of highlight the relationship between man and land in current affairs hot material,penetrate the coordination view of man and land;analyze current affairs hot spot material from multi-dimensional perspective,cultivate comprehensive thinking;use maps and mind maps to help analyze current events and hot materials,and strengthen regional cognition;relying on current events and hot materials to set up practical activities to enhance the practical ability of geography.This paper constructs the application mode of current affairs hot materials in high school geography teaching based on the cultivation of core literacy,and finally designs a specific teaching case based on the current affairs hot materials in Maowusu Desert.As a geography teacher,we should actively build a database of current affairs hot materials,develop and use current affairs hot materials in teaching,create good learning conditions for students,guide students to actively think,and then implement the cultivation of geography core literacy.
