The times are developing,science and technology are advancing,and improving the quality of national science is a basic requirement for enhancing the country's cultural soft power and its ability to innovate independently,build a strong socialist modern country,and promote the progress of social civilization.Innovation in science and technology cannot be separated from humanistic quality,and human development cannot be separated from scientific and rational thinking.Therefore,Chinese teachers should take the cultivation of students' humanistic quality and scientific thinking as focus of their teaching.In the senior high school stage,traditional Chinese teaching paid more attention to language,culture,and aesthetics because most teachers did not pay enough attention to the development and promotion of thinking before the implementation of the new curriculum reform.And most teachers often ignore or even skip the teaching of popular science articles due to the insufficient of class time,lack of interest in reading popular science articles,and the arrangement of popular science articles in the last unit,etc.However,popular science articles have a unique value in cultivating students' Chinese core literacy and is worth digging deeper.And this paper is divided into five main sections.In the introductory part,firstly,it mainly analyzes the reasons for the choice of the topic from three levels: talent cultivation,the scientific literacy of the nation and the current situation of teaching;secondly,sorting out the current situation of research on the core literacy of Chinese and the teaching of popular science articles' reading in high school;and finally,determining the research ideas and methods according to the actual situation.The first chapter defines the concepts related to the core literacy of Chinese and Chinese popular science articles of high school,summarizes the four characteristics of popular science articles,such as being practical in content,logical in structure,accurate and popular in language,and the unity of science and humanities in thought.This will provide a theoretical basis for the later part of the paper to explore the teaching objectives and contents of reading popular science texts based on language core qualities.The four teaching values of cultivating the spirit of science,developing scientific and rational thinking,exercising scientific expression skills and enhancing scientific and humanistic literacy are extracted to provide a theoretical basis for the later paper to explore the teaching objectives and teaching contents of reading popular science articles based on the core literacy of Chinese.The second chapter provides a specific analysis of the objectives and teaching content of Chinese popular science articles' reading in senior high in terms of the four dimensions of the core literacy of Chinese.The third chapter is a questionnaire survey on the current situation of the cultivation of the core literacy of Chinese in the teaching of popular science articles in senior high school,and a summary of the current situation in terms of teaching and learning based on data analysis.The aspects of students are mainly reflected in: 1.The comprehensive quality of students is better,but individual abilities need to be improved;2.The core literacy of students is affected by various aspects,such as their interests,extra-curricular reading,learning initiative,gender,and teachers' teaching;3.Most students are more interested in popular science articles.The main situations of teachers ' teaching are as follows: 1.The teacher ' s understanding and implementation of the core literacy of Chinese is not deep enough;2.The teacher's handling of teaching of popular science articles' reading is not efficient enough;3.Teachers do not tap into the hidden core literacy of Chinese in popular science articles;4.Insufficient class time is still a dilemma.The fourth chapter puts forward corresponding solution strategies from the student level,teacher level,and classroom teaching level based on the uniqueness of popular science articles and the problems in the questionnaire survey,and provides specific case based on the “Educational History of a Physicist” as an example.
