Reading is an activity in which individuals use the written language system of language and writing as an intermediary,supplemented by original knowledge and experience,to obtain information,to increase knowledge culture,develop intelligence and thinking,and to meet personal needs for knowledge and curiosity.Extracurricular reading is for students to be the practice and expansion of language teaching outside the classroom,is one of the important extracurricular activities,is a supplement to reading knowledge in the classroom,the exercise of skills,is an indispensable method for the cultivation of reading ability,and is also the purpose of reading teaching.The Chinese curriculum standards also put forward clear requirements for primary school students to read,with the aim of improving reading ability and cultivating reading literacy.However,due to the great differences between urban and rural areas in China in terms of economy,culture,education,etc.,there are also differences in extracurricular reading resources among urban and rural primary school students,in order to understand the differences in extracurricular reading attitudes and extracurricular reading behaviors of urban and rural primary school students,and what differences exist in reading family resources and social resources,taking the urban J primary school and rural T primary school in Xianyang City as an example,through questionnaire surveys,interviews and other methods,the extracurricular reading of urban and rural primary school students is compared.This article is divided into the following parts: Chapter 1Preface,including the background of the topic selection,the significance of the topic selection,theoretical basis,research methods and objects;Chapter 2 Extracurricular Reading Overview,including related concepts and literature review;Chapter 3 Student Questionnaire Survey and Analysis;Chapter 4 Parent Questionnaire Survey and Analysis;Chapter 5analysis of the reasons for differences,including the following: six aspects of activity subject,activity intermediary tool,activity object,activity community,activity rules,activity division;Chapter 6suggestions for narrowing the difference,including the following five aspects: hold more extracurricular reading activities;Strengthen the creation of reading environment;strengthen the cultivation of extracurricular reading psychological tools;teachers and parents become students’ reading community;pay attention to the transformation of reading results.
