Research On The Construction Path Of Non-main Disciplines In Industry Characteristics Universities

The main disciplines of industry characteristics universities have the strength have the strength to impact the world-class level.In order to strive for more main disciplines to achieve world-class ranks,most universities have adopted a strategy of concentrating major resources to give priority to the development of backbone disciplines.Under this situation,non-main disciplines are relatively neglected in the discipline construction of industry characteristics universities,and some disciplines that are ranked behind even face the risk of being withdrawn.However,the development of non-main disciplines is closely related to the development of the school’s disciplinary ecosystem,which not only plays a basic supporting role in the construction of the school’s first-class disciplines,but also has a non-negligible influence in the development of the overall career of the university.Therefore,thinking about how to improve the development level of non-main disciplines has important theoretical and practical significance for the construction of first-class disciplines in industry characteristics universities and the overall development of universities.Industry characteristics universities refer to those universities that were once managed by a certain industry sector and have significant industry-running characteristics and outstanding disciplines.Although such universities have the trend of multi-disciplinary development,they still have the organizational behavior characteristics of single-disciplinary colleges in the construction of disciplines.From the perspective of the disciplinary ecosystem and synergy theory,the disciplinary system of a university is a complex and open disciplinary ecosystem,and first-class disciplines are the result of the long-term evolution and self-adjustment of functional relationships such as multi-disciplinary competition and cooperation.In addition,the diversity of disciplines and the coordinated development of various parts of the discipline ecosystem are prerequisites for disciplines.These theories provide new ideas and new perspectives for the construction of university disciplines with industry characteristics.Using disciplinary ecosystem theory and synergy theory to examine the relationship between disciplines and between disciplines and the environment can clarify the development significance and construction logic of non-main disciplines in industry characteristics universities,can also help to change the current utilitarian,short-term and one-sided phenomenon of "focusing on discipline performance".According to the complex interactive relationship between the inside and outside of the disciplinary ecosystem in industry characteristics universities,taking the non-main disciplines of Z University as an example,combined with questionnaires and interview research,it is found that there are many problems in the development of non-main disciplines in industry characteristics universities: first of all,from the internal point of view,the internal ecological factors of non-main disciplines are relatively poor,and the coordination with other disciplines is insufficient;secondly,From an external point of view,there are problems such as not being valued by universities,failing to form a good interaction with the social economy,and narrow development space in non-main disciplines of industry characteristics universities.Combined with the content of the interviews,it is found that the internal reasons include the "inertia of discipline development" caused by the development history of universities with industry characteristics,the lack of close connection between non-main disciplines and main disciplines and the industries,and the inclination of the "double first-class" policy to main disciplines.In view of the existing problems,from aspects of enhancing the internal development power and external development conditions of the discipline,the following suggestions are put forward on how to improve the strength of the non-main disciplines of industry characteristics universities: on the one hand,it is necessary to enhance the internal development momentum of non-main disciplines by improving the internal ecological factors of non-main disciplines and strengthening the collaborative innovation of non-main disciplines;on the other hand,it is necessary to enhance the external adaptability of non-main disciplines by clarifying the status of non-main disciplines in the disciplinary ecosystem of universities with industry characteristics,expanding the social foundation of non-main disciplines,and establishing a flexible and open discipline construction environment.
