Cerebral palsy(CP),for short,is one of the most common disabling conditions in children.Due to the complexity of the cause of cerebral palsy and the long-term nature of its treatment, the care needs of children with cerebral palsy may remain with them throughout their development, making it a long-term care task for caregivers of children with cerebral palsy and placing financial, psychological, physical and family relationship stress on them. However, while research on cerebral palsy continues to grow, research on caregivers of children with cerebral palsy has not received the same level of attention, and research on children with cerebral palsy is much more intense than that on caregivers of children with cerebral palsy. Therefore,it is necessary to explore the feelings of caregivers of children with cerebral palsy and find a way to effectively alleviate the stress of caregivers of people with cerebral palsy. In this paper, from a social work perspective,a casework programme is used to intervene in the stress relief of carers of children with cerebral palsy, using social support, hierarchy of needs and enrichment theory.Firstly,a survey of 66 carers of children with cerebral palsy at Hospital R was conducted using questionnaires, interviews and participant observation, and the results showed that carers were generally stressed. The stress questionnaire scores and intention to seek help were combined to select one caregiver as the case study client.Secondly, information was collected on the basic profile and stress situation of the client, and the stress problems and needs of the client were defined.Thirdly, the social worker and the client jointly formulated the service objectives and service plan, and implemented the service plan to help the client to relieve the stress of caregiving. Finally,it is concluded that casework is an effective way to intervene in the stress problem of caregivers of children with cerebral palsy and to reflect on the shortcomings in practice and research.
