The implementation of quality education in primary and secondary schools is greatly aided by music education, which has a beneficial effect on the physical and mental health of students.Rapid development in China’s education is currently underway, and music is a key factor in advancing quality education and is of great importance. For the past 11 years since the 2011-2022 edition of the Compulsory Education Arts Curriculum Standards was issued, music education has seen a steady rise in quality and has achieved some successes;however, the vast disparity remains. The New Curriculum Standards’ proposed teaching objectives and requirements, due to the disparity between urban and rural areas, the current low music literacy of rural students, and the dearth of teachers, are more challenging to put into practice in rural primary schools. The research object of this paper is Yangjiajing Primary School in Yangqu County, with the aim of advancing the comprehensive growth of rural music education. To analyze the current state of rural music education, the investigation and research of its sites is conducted, the implementation of its new curriculum standards is examined, and further exploration of the development of music education in rural elementary schools is conducted.Exploring the ways of its development to achieve good teaching and learning, the New Curriculum Standard is employed as a backdrop for music education in rural elementary schools, with the aim of providing inspiration and assistance for the growth of music education in rural elementary schools.
