Chinese modern and contemporary vernacular novels are a mirror of Chinese rural society,and have made outstanding contributions to expressing the real life conditions of peasants and reflecting the national psychology and the spirit of the times.At the same time,in the context of the reform of the Chinese curriculum,more selected essays from local novels have been added to the unified edition of the high school Chinese textbook.Through the study of modern and contemporary Chinese vernacular novels,students can better understand the tortuous course of China’s social change,enrich their own aesthetic and emotional experience in the learning process,and comprehensively improve their language literacy.Correctly understanding local novels,using the teaching value of local novels to give play to the function of language education,and completing the fundamental task of cultivating virtue and cultivating people are problems that teachers urgently need to think about and solve.Therefore,this study summarizes the connotation,characteristics and historical changes of modern and contemporary Chinese vernacular novels,clarifies the current situation of teaching modern and contemporary vernacular novels in China through questionnaire surveys and interviews,and summarizes the teaching value,so as to provide a reference path for optimizing front-line teaching strategies.This article is mainly divided into five parts.The first part is the introduction,which summarizes the reasons and significance of the topic selection,briefly sorts out the research situation on the topic at home and abroad,and clarifies the research ideas and methods.The second part provides an overview of modern and contemporary Chinese vernacular novels.Combined with the literature,the connotation of modern and contemporary Chinese vernacular novels is clarified,similar concepts are analyzed,and the historical changes of modern and contemporary Chinese vernacular novels are briefly sorted out.Finally,it summarizes the characteristics of modern and contemporary Chinese rural novels in combination with specific works.The third part sorts out the changes in the selection of Chinese modern and contemporary vernacular novels in the textbooks since the founding of the People’s Republic of China,summarizes the characteristics of the selected vernacular novels in the Renjiao edition and the unified edition of the textbooks,and summarizes their teaching value in combination with the 6 selected textbooks in the unified edition textbooks.The fourth part is to design and distribute a questionnaire on the teaching of modern and contemporary vernacular novels in China,conduct interviews with front-line teachers,analyze the teaching status,and clarify the problems existing in the current teaching of vernacular novels.Finally,based on the above analysis of the current situation of teaching,the reasons for this paper are further explored from the aspects of teacher teaching and students themselves.The fifth part,based on the analysis of teaching value and current situation,combined with literature and case studies,provides strategic reference for the teaching of vernacular novels in the unified edition of the textbook.
