Abstract/Summary:
Export technology complexity can be said to be one of the important indicators for assessing a country’s international status,and improving export technology complexity has been one of the important goals for the high-quality development of China’s foreign trade.In recent years,the technical complexity of China’s exports in many industries,especially in high-tech industries,has been significantly improved,and the degree of patent protection,as an important institutional variable,plays a pivotal role in the improvement of the technical complexity of exports.The degree of patent protection has a significant impact on the technological content of export goods and technological innovation.In the new period,how to provide innovation incentives for China’s high-tech industry and thus promote the transformation of China’s export trade by formulating an appropriate patent protection system is an urgent issue to be solved at present.Firstly,this paper reads and sorts out the relevant literature to find out the influencing factors and related mechanisms;secondly,it summarizes the current situation of patent protection and high-tech enterprise development in China and presents them in a series of charts;then,it selects the provincial panel data from 2006 to 2020 for empirical analysis.Finally,we propose policy recommendations such as improving the patent protection system,increasing the investment in R&D and formulating the optimal patent protection zone.The research innovation of this paper is mainly focused on the following aspects:firstly,the innovation of research perspective.From the existing literature,several scholars have studied the complexity of export technology from the level of digital financial development,marketization process,trade policy uncertainty,trade barriers and other levels,but there are few research results on patent protection and export technology complexity.In the context of increasingly strict global patent protection,it is likely to be an important influencing factor for the optimization of the export structure of a country’s high-tech industry;secondly,the innovation of research variables.In the previous literature on export technology complexity,the control variables chosen by the authors are mostly more macro variables such as the level of economic development,the level of infrastructure construction and natural resources,which are not specific to the industries under study.In this paper,for the high-tech industry,it is expected to introduce the number of high-tech industrial parks in each province as a dummy variable to increase the relevance of the study.
