Study On The Web Retrieving System And Evaluation Of The Sustainable Development Of Guangdong Province

In the progress of turning the concept and theory of sustainable development into practice, it has become one of the main tasks in the field of sustainable development to evaluate the level and ability of regional sustainable development. On the one side, the research of evaluating the regional sustainable development can resolve the momentous questions such as how to develop better and how to deal with the human-earth relation theoretically, on the other side, it can solve a lot of practical problems such as how to explore the resource rationally, how to protect the environment, how to keep the development of economy in high speed, and how to make progress in the civilization of the society etc. Guangdong province is just one of the typical regions in the research of the sustainable development as a relatively developed region theoretically and practically. Thus, the dissertation selects Guangdong province as the interesting object.In the first place, through collecting the information comprehensively and analyzing the statistical data, the dissertation uses "the index system on the evaluation of sustainable development based on the carrying capacity of the resources" in evaluating the status quo, level and ability of the sustainable development of Guangdong province and its 21 cities.In the second place, the dissertation compares the result of evaluating from three sides as follows: Firstly, it compares the progress of the sustainable development of Guangdong province from 1978 to 2001 to study the change of the carrying capacity of the resource with elapse of year, the level of the development of society and economy, the level and ability of the sustainable development during this period. Secondly, through evaluating 31 provinces of the country synthetically, it compares the status of the sustainable development of Guangdong province with other provinces'. Thirdly, it compares the result of evaluating the sustainable development of 21 cities in 2001 with the evaluating result of 1998.In the third place, the dissertation introduces the design, making and function of the interactive retrieving system using Web technique --"the web retrieving system of evaluation of the sustainable development in Guangdong".This dissertation is directed by Professor Kuang Yaoqiu and Professor Zhu Zhaoyu, and is financially supported by the key project of Guangdong province's Natural Science Fund: "The detection, evaluation, pre-alarming, control of Guangdong Province's Sustainable Development (021446)" and the program of Guangdong province to tackling key problem by science and technology: "The research on terrastrial heat flow and ecological geographic division of Guangdong province".
