Research On The Construction Of Urban Aging-friendly Communities

At present, China's population age structure has been completely changed to the veteran form; China has entered the aging society. Thus, aging population problem has affect in every field of social life. Contrast to the silent process of aging population problem, the urbanization process is vigorous at the same time. Along with the acceleration of China's urbanization process, there will be more old-aged people choose to spend their rest life in the city, which is the big challenge to the pension resources and urban community construction in the city.The aging population process in China is in a higher level to the economic and social development, showing feature that getting old before rich, then pension problem has become an important issue needed to face in China's development. Because of the historical and development reason, china could not adopt an all-around socialization of old age support as Western developed countries. Thus, to search an old age supporting way of Chinese reality has become the focus attention to both the academic and all society members. After years of researching and practicing, the way that home-based care for the aged becomes mature and gets widely accepted in the society, which will be the major pension way at this time and the future in china.In this research, with the precondition of home-based care for the aged as well as the foundation of Chinese old-age supporting experience and foreign advanced idea, the study suggests a bright new society communication construction:aging-friendly communities. To take Shimenlou community in Changsha as the research object, through both questionnaire and field survey to over 60, the study analyses the satisfaction of public space and living service as well as the spiritual needs. Through the analysis, the study gets the conclusion that the present community is not suit for the old aged people because of the difference between community construction level and old aged people's desire. In order to satisfy the old aged people's expectation better and make them live more comfortable, the study projects the plan of aging-friendly community construction. The last part of the paper presents the way of achieving aging-friendly communities, definite the responsibility, status and role of government, social organizations and community members in aging-friendly community construction.
