Functional training bases on the movements training, to restore the nature function of the human body which has acquired by habit and training. The training focus on the basic functions and emphasizes the characteristics of specific training for sports, and to optimize the function of the athletes through functional training. Reduce injury risk and improve efficiency and further extend the entire sports life. During the winter training in 2010 China's sailing team introduced a new method of physical training-Functional Training, the great changes have occurred among the athletes,.In this paper, using literature act, mathematical, investigating law experts, on-site observation, studying case, studying the functional training of China sailing team, and the conclusions as following:(1)Functional training is an important component of modern physical training. It is a great significance for the sailing athletes to prevent injury and improve exercise performance. According to the periodicity and continuity in the physical training, the coach should integrate the functional training into the land-based fitness class, make the training more reasonable.(2)Functional training use the fitness ball, mat, suspension ropes and other equipment and other training methods to broaden the training technique and means, and comprehensive development the function ability of athletes. Strengthening the core stability, integrating the shoulder and hip stability and mobility training to improve the accuracy posture of the athletes, strengthen the shoulder, core, hips and buttocks efforts to promote the effectiveness of power transmission chain, and improve the special operations at sea sailing more stable.(3)Functional training requires players to be act a very standard action to develop the target muscle, so during the functional training, the athletes must go through learning, adapting, strengthening stages of training to ensure systematic and consistent.(4)In winter training period, there is no one new injury, and pain decreased when athletes training in the sea, and maintain the injury athletes training systemic by increasing function training. Functional training through a series of neuromuscular training, activation and develop the deep muscles, then strengthen small muscles of joints, increasing range of motion to reduce muscle damage, play a great role in disease prevention and injury prevention.(5)Functional training integrates the rehabilitation of injured athletes training into the overall training arrangements. During the recovery process, keeps the continuity of training, making the athletes to maintain the high level, helping athletes to accelerate the speed of recovery, to reduce pain at the training process.(6)Functional training can improve the sailing athletes body posture, help the athletes to establish a correct muscle concept and develop an effort model, build a scientific and rational kinetic chain in the special training and improve the efficiency of energy transfer.
