Under the background of globalization of economy and higher education, the Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools becomes a natural trend. The Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools in Shanxi province, originated in 1997, has achieved several developments in a decade; it not only gradually expands the size of school, improves educational levels, but also increasingly diversifies education model. The popularization of Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools, on one hand, increases supplements of education organizations which contribute to the provincial optimization of our higher education institutions, on the other hand, it imports the advanced teaching concepts from foreign countries, which are beneficial to the deepening of university curriculum and teaching reform, quickening our speed to reach the global average level of majors'setting, education model, teaching management system and teaching method, etc, so as to cultivate international and compound talents.This thesis, based on documents and summaries, analyses the developing process of Sino-foreign cooperation in higher education of Shanxi province; In 1997, the first Sino-foreign cooperative education institution established, to now, four Sino-foreign cooperative education institutions have been set up, and 17 projects about Sino-foreign cooperative education are under development. Compared Shanxi with other Chinese Provinces in the aspect of Sino-foreign cooperative education, the relatively backward higher education level, and the slow economic development in Shanxi, lead to several problems which existing in the projects of Sino-foreign cooperative education, such as small scale, few quantity, low school level, relatively simple running model, lack of excellent cooperation resources, and weak management, etc. To solve a series of problems said above, the paper puts forward some solutions, such as improving relevant policies and regulations, formulating and implementing methods which are hierarchical and classified on Sino-foreign cooperative education, converting the concept that we should pay more attention on approval rather than supervision, and normalizing the supervision during the process of Sino-foreign cooperative education. In order to guarantee the sustainable development of Sino-foreign cooperative education, taking Shanxi's actual situation into consideration, it is necessary for us to broaden the channels of introducing foreign teachers, and actively provide them professional training and after services, so as to cultivate outstanding foreign teachers. In major setting, it is also necessary to meet the needs of Shanxi's economic development and carry out cooperative education activities by getting characteristic majors from different universities together.
