Reading as human's life activity is divided into in-class reading and extracurricular reading. Now both in Chinese educational theory and the front line of Chinese teaching, in-class reading study and teaching methodology is consider to be the most important while extracurricular reading is seen less important. Senior education is the most mature part in basic education with its special features. Senior students have adult Chinese capabilities whose extracurricular reading aspects are much more complex than pupils and junior students especially in such popular culture era. So it is very time to reappraisal status and effect of Senior students'extracurricular reading, to analyze actuality and age features, then to explore the systemic strategies for Senior students'extracurricular reading.This paper includes mainly the following three parts:Partâ… ,Redefinitions of reading, reading teaching, extracurricular reading, extracurricular reading guide. In this part, I define the reading as life activity from humanism. Traditional reading teaching attach importance to train students'mental process, while I emphasize on diversification of reading teaching from reading objects'richness and diversification. Extracurricular reading is more important than in-class reading in senior school, so we should emphasize more on guiding extracurricular reading.Partâ…¡, Systemic analysis of senior students'extracurricular reading actuality depending on my investigation and others'literature investigation. I analyze and estimate the present popular reading materials which can be thought as extracurricular reading materials. I try to point out their reasonable factors and teaching breakthroughs.Partâ…¢, I will bring forward some actualized suggestions for senior students'extracurricular reading from students, teachers, curriculum, teaching, etc. aspects.
