The Relation Between Time Management Disposition And Stress, Subjective Well-Being In Undergraduate Students

Time Management Disposition is individual's psychological and behavioral characteristic in the way of time using, it is a multi-dimensional and multilevel structure, and constituted with sense of time value, perspective on time control, and time efficiency. Time Management disposition is also an important aspect in the undergraduate student's life and growth. It has significant connections with objective feelings about individual life. The objective of the present study is to explore the connections between time management and stressor, objective well-being undergraduate students.Four questionnaires were applied to measure the related indicators; they were adolescent time management disposition scale, Chinese college student stressor scale, index of well-being scale, and affection balance scale. Data were collected from 520 college students from Central China Normal University. Correlation analysis, variance analysis and regression analysis were applied to explore the states of the time management disposition, stressor and objective well-being. The results are as following:For TMD, enrolled time in college, gender, family location, and only child status made no significant differences. Students from science major have higher score than those from art and social science major in time value sense.For stressor indicators, there were difference among grades in learning stress, the second year students have the higher pressure in learning than those from the first, third, and forth year. Also, students from science major have significantly higher score than those from art and social science major in learning stress. No gender difference was observed. First year students reported the highest self-rated general stress, and the fourth, third, and second year students reported the lower stress. Female students reported lower stress than male students, and students from urban area reported lower stress than those from rural area.There were also significant difference between students from urban and rural area in subjective well-being and affection balance. Urban students have higher scores in positive affection and affection balance, and rural students reported higher score in negative affection. There were no significant differences between genders, grades, and majors.The three subscale scores of TMD have significant correlations with the subjective well-being and affection indexes. And the four indexes of stress significantly correlated with well-being and affection indexes.
