In recent years, the emergence of modern information and technology which possess the characteristic of digital, network, multi-media, intellect, had provided plenty digital resource for learners. It changed the way of people's learning, prompted the innovation of educational idea, content and method.The idea of lifelong learning and digital learning had replaced traditional learning idea, which require learners possess some information literacy as the foundation of digital learning and lifelong learning. The information literacy is an important part of citizens'whole literacy. For these reasons, China has increased its investment on the education of information. The construction of school information education had a good development in nationwide for the work of these years. However, what about students'information literacy on earth? Especially information literacy of students in rural areas, it will affect the construction of new village and comprehensive improvement of rural people's quality.My research began at the connotation of information literacy, and based on the analysis of literature and under the STS idea of evaluation criteria of information literacy , we had a nationwide investigation on 38 secondary schools which take in"Microsoft-China"assist-learning program from the dimension of information science, information technology and information society. Though questionnaire and field research, we had mastered the truth of many rural secondary schools and found out the problems existing in rural information and technology curriculum. After the survey of information literacy by evaluation tools directed STS idea, we found the whole level of information literacy of students in rural areas was low , especially in those remote and impoverished areas .Through the learning of current information and technology subject, students in rural secondary schools had possessed some computer ability, but they can not put their computer knowledge into use for the sake of information conditions restraints.According to the worse level of information literacy of secondary school students in rural areas, this research analyzes the factors which affected the improvement of students'information literacy from the aspects of information environment, teachers'professional level and students'interest. And it offered the strategies to improve current situations, such as to bring new curriculum resources of the subject of information and technology, develop information teachers'professional level, construct a better informative environment and assure a parallel development between various regions. The key point is the discussion of students'information literacy in rural secondary school and its influential factors, and teachers'main concern on information literacy .we also discussed some existing problems such as what the curriculum of information and technology can improve students'information literacy, we hope these discussion could offer some enlightenment for further research and the making of implementation criteria in information and technology curriculum.
