Physical Education Status Of Hubei Independent Colleges And Development Measures

It is an exploratary educational pattern and mechanism for the universities to set up independent colleges, and it is a quick and effective approach to popularizing the best-qualified higher education resources. Hubei is a big education province in our country with richer higher-education resources which offer better developing space for collegiate universities. In the paper the 16 independent colleges of Hubei are taken as the objects to study from all points the colleges' physical education (or PE) status through consulting massive documents, carrying on questionaire surveys, interviewinvestigations, mathematic statistics and so on. Further SPSS10.0 software is used to facitate mathematic and logical analysis. The goal is to promote scientific, standardized sports of the colleges and to supply advisory opinions concerning the independent colleges' PE development plan to the related departments.Through careful study,the paper gives the colleges' present PE situation as follows: (1 )Hubei independent colleges are mainly run in the third-level management, few in the second-level management with the management system up to further improving.(2)Though they have established better sports teaching system,compared with the mother universities they still have quite a few undesirable aspects such as too many students in one class in sports, inadequate teaching materials and short of well-prepared teachingdocuments.(3)They have good extracurricular sports,but without training plans. The standing Sports Team does not have teaching program,no organization or proper guiding.(4)They have relatively steady PE faculty, mainly full time and a few part time teachers,but the constitution of the faculty with regard to age, title and education background is not resonable due to fewer academic results and less-paid teachers.(5)Facilities and sports equipments between the colleges are very different with most colleges only having sports fields for PE classes, far behind the requirement of the Ministry of Education.In view of present situation and after diligent studying the country's educational policies, related laws and regulations, the author of the paper suggests: (1) Strengthening the standard management, improving the management system and promoting the PE's healthy development of the independent colleges; (2) Establishing and improving the management system, reinforcing PE curriculum deep-going reform;(3) Strengthening the teachers's training so as to establish a high qualified PE teaching body;(4) Strengthening organization and managementhe of extracurricular sports; (5) Increasing the sports investment and improving the sports infrastructure .
