Homework is not only the extension of geography teaching but also the important link of it. In the modern education system, homework is the protection of geography curriculum for implementing. Doing homework should promote the students solidify knowledge and enhance learning levels. It also should increase the students' capabilities of independent study and their learning achievement.In the reform of new courses, curriculum goal, curriculum content, curriculum structure, curriculum implementation and curriculum evaluation receive much concern, but the homework has been neglected. Geography teaching has long been affected by the exam-oriented education and cognitive deviation, there are many disadvantages on the geography homework, for example, there are much written work but less practical homework, much "same homework" and less the indigenous design, much mechanical and repeated practice. And don't be afraid of the interdisciplinary knowledge and abundant homework types, because it's rare occurrence. The geography homework also pays less attention to put the student'knowledge into practice, these shortcomings could affect the accomplishment of geography assignment and students' interests in geography. In this study, investigation of new homework design theory and design types based on the objective reality of geography teaching.The paper consists of 4 parts and uses literature research method, questionnaire survey and analysis by synthesis.The first chapter studies the theories on homework, explains the conception of it, defines the conception of the geography homework,then, the paper elaborates the origin of this study, the research thoughts and methods.The second chapter has tried to find out the present situation by the form of a questionnaire, analyzes the existing problems and reasons for it.The third chapter is "theoretical considerations over the design strategy of geography homework". It mainly includes the modern education theory research, strengthening the function of geography homework, following the principles of designing, the development and construction of homework resources. It analyses the design method of geography homework. The fourth chapter is "research on the designing of geography homework types". It is the focus of this dissertation. This paper analyzes four types of geography homework, includes written work, artistic homework, geography game, practical homework, gives examples for geography homework types.
