In recent years, with the rapid development of China’s economy and increasing comprehensive national strength, and more frequent economic and cultural communication with the worlds, teaching Chinese as a foreign language has become much more important. People all over the world pay more and more attention to Chinese-learning, which booms up continuously, meanwhile, it has also sparked some of the Chinese teaching methods in the relevant researches and discussions in order to face new changes of the teaching forms, such as how the Chinese can be easily accepted, how to instruct students to master the language happily, how to achieve a more obvious teaching effect. Accordingly, these questions have prompted the scholars to the study of the method of game teaching in the field of Chinese-teaching as a foreign language.In this paper, the first chapter is to make definition of the method, analyze its theoretical foundation and summarize related researches. The second chapter is to analyze current situation of Chinese-teaching as a foreign language at international schools. Taking Xi’an Hanova International School as an example, the statistics and analysis of basic factors such as the background of both school and students, teaching materials and school management will be made to illustrate the necessity of using game teaching method in Chinese as a foreign language class. The third chapter is to discuss the types of games, and analyzes the characteristics of each game. Then based on some practical teaching cases, the effect of games in class will be discussed from the perspective of students and teachers respectively. Fourth chapter is the reflection of the game teaching method in classroom teaching including some factors interfering the operation and effect of game teaching method. Consequently, classroom discipline, rational organization recreation in teaching as well as full preparation should be guaranteed to avoid incidents happening. The last paper is to summarize the principle of practical use of game teaching method, puts forward five basic principles including the properties of purpose, interest, operability, diversity and controllability. Also the future of the game teaching method in Chinese-teaching as a foreign language will be discussed.This paper takes Xi’an Hanova International School of Chinese class as an example to review the game teaching method and related theoretical research, and introduces the application of game teaching method in the Chinese classroom. The focus of the whole thesis is the importance of the game teaching method and its feasibility.
