The teaching of ancient poetry can exactly accomplish these training objectives of Chinese teaching in primary, since it is an important part of Chinese traditional culture and its highly condensed language visually expresses poets’ abundant emotions, which is the reason why it is the classics in traditional culture. Furthermore, the ancient poetry selected in the textbooks for Chinese teaching in primary school is mostly the essence of language comes down through hundreds of years and the treasure of Chinese culture. As a strongly comprehensive subject, Chinese teaching in primary school has a profound influence on children’s intelligence, emotion, will and the development of individual characters. When children learn languages, they can both acquire a certain amount of vocabulary and comprehend concepts and opinions on many things, feeling the thoughts, feelings, artistic image and logic as well as philosophy in language, so that they can draw spiritual power from it and cultivate national temperament.This paper selects the Beijing Normal University edition textbook of Chinese teaching in primary school and studies the classroom teaching of ancient poetry in Chinese teaching in primary school. Through research, the author finds out the teaching methodology for ancient poetry at present is still traditional, as it only explains the phrases and sentences of ancient poetry and then requires students to recite them, which is far from our educational objectives for ancient poetry in primary school. Specific to this problem, the author tried applying the situational teaching method as stipulated by Chinese Curriculum Standards of Compulsory Education, conducted teaching experiment on the ancient poetry teaching for Chinese teaching in primary school. In this paper, the observational method and questionnairemethod are adopted, so as to compare the conventional teaching method and the situational teaching method for ancient poetry as well as make analysis on aspects like teaching design, implementation in classes and students feedback.The author finds that situational teaching method for ancient poetry can perfectly cater to students’learning interest through the teaching experiment; situational teaching method changes the original traditional one and diversifies the contents in classes of ancient poetry; more importantly, students are also enchanted by the situations created by the teacher and feel poets’thoughts and feelings in situations, and they can even try to express their understanding about ancient poetry, which is especially significant.After class, it is observed by the author that students will subconsciously recite ancient poetry and talk about poets, which shows students’interest in this kind of situational teaching of ancient poetry. This method turns the learning of ancient poetry into an experience of aesthetics from a dull and symbolistic recitation. The author set various kinds of situations corresponding to ancient poetry and let students feel their beauty in situations, develop intelligence and cultivate tastes, aiming to provide a basis for the ancient poetry teaching of Chinese teachers in primary schools.
