This is a report on the translation of Translation as a Profession by DanielGouadec, of which Chapter13and14are the source text. The source text discussesthe revolution in translation industry, introduces the assisted-translation tools andanalyzes the friendly and unfriendly revolutions of ICT and machine translation. Themain contents of this report are divided into four parts: Part One is the translationproject description, including project background, objectives and significance. PartTwo is the background of the source text, including the author introduction, maincontents of the source text, linguistic features of the source text, and evaluation andreview of the source text. Part Three is about translation difficulties and methods. Thedifficulties lie in the translation of specialized terminology, long sentences, names ofassisted-translation tools, and the translation of long sentences is the most difficultone. The methods include: literal translation, free translation, amplification, omission,long sentence processing. Part Four concludes with the lessons, implication andunsolved problems in the translation project.
