Study on Status and Measures of the Development and Utilization of BiologyCurriculum Resources at Junior High Schools in Qingdao Urban AreasWith the full implementation of the new curriculum reform in China , the developmentand utilization of curriculum resources has become a very important part in the curriculumreform and the importance of curriculum resources is increasely obvious. The in-depth studyof curriculum resources is of great significance for implementing the new curriculumcreatively, in particular, providing new ideas for continuous improvement of education inpractice. As the curriculum reform implements deeply , more and more teachers recognizethat without the broad support of the curriculum resources , the expectation of the curriculumreform in school education is difficult to come ture. In fact, in terms of the connotation ofcurriculum resources , whether it is economically developed areas or poor areas , their coursesare a variety of resources. What we lacks is not resources, but educators’awareness andability in curriculum resource identification, development and utilization. Those resourceswhich are beneficial to active learning and harmonious development should be explored anddeveloped greatly. Therefore, we must attach great importance to the development andutilization of curriculum resources, strengthen the awareness and improve the ability of thedevelopment and utilization of curriculum resources to promote the quality of biologicalteaching.This paper summarizes the concepts of biological curriculum resources as well as theprinciples and approaches of curriculum resources development and utilization by theresearch methods of literature analysis, questionnaire, investigation and mathematicalstatistics analysis. Conducted a systematic survey of the development and utilization of thebiology curriculum resources at nearly 30 junior high schools in Qingdao urban areas, theauthor analyzes the main problems and their causes and explores more effective measures tomake recommendations for teachers in development and utilization of the biology curriculumresources.The survey finds the main problems of biology teachers in resource development andutilization is that they do not put enough emphasis on curriculum resources, misunderstandthe concept and fail to make good use of biological resources in public. Besides, Studentsshould play more active role in the development of curriculum resources. At the same time,examination and evaluation system , the heavy workload, less active attitude and lack ofcapacity has become major factors restricting the development of curriculum resources . But the survey also finds that with the deepening of curriculum reform , the biology teachers’awareness of curriculum resources development and utilization is gradually increasing so thatthe resources begin to expand to a extracurricular extent and community and natural resourcesare involved in the biology curriculum. Especially by transforming and upgrading theeducational facilities in the urban schools, teachers have greater access to the biologycurriculum resources. Thanks to modern information technology, multimedia technology iswidely used in the classroom and academic exchanges between the schools are increasing dayby day.On the basis of investigation and research , the author gives the followingrecommendations as for the development and utilization of biology curriculum in theimplementation of new curriculum resources: to change the traditional concepts and establisha new concept of curriculum resources; to improve the teachers’ capacity of the identification,development and utilization of the curriculum resources; to take full advantage of the schoolresources and turn to society and nature to explore the hidden resources then blend a varietyof resources with the school curriculum; to take advantage of the city advantages as well asmake full use of the development of media and multimedia information technology; shouldpay attention to the development of students’ experience and stock of knowledge and inaddition to the importance of students ’ attitudes and values .Through this investigation, analysis, experiment and study, the paper aims to enhancebiology teachers’awareness of curriculum development in Qingdao urban areas, andstrengthen the theoretical study and practical exploration of curriculum resources to identifythe weakness in the development and utilization of biology curriculum, which helps toconstruct reasonable structure and function of the biology curriculum resources in Qingdaourban areas , effectively develope and utilize local biology curriculum resources at junior highschool, fully promote the overall progress of biology teaching reform at junior high school inthe experimental area , and promote the sustainable development of the students, teachers’professional development and classroom teaching progress and further implementation of thecurriculum reform .
