More and more experts and teachers have affirmed that Picture Books, which are beneficial for children’grown-up, are the critical part of lower-grade elementary education. To meet the development of modern education, the author explored the adoption of picture books in early-stage elementary school reading, which aims to (1) probe the status of picture books teaching and find the misunderstanding and existing problems;(2) foster the right view of picture books reading and assess the real value of picture books used for primary school;(3) explore the suitable teaching strategy for picture books applied in lower-grade elementary school teaching.This dissertation comprises the following4parts, i.e. firstly, the significance of this research is explained in Part1, introducing ralated research of famous educators from home and abroad on education, psychology and aesthetics etc. Secondly, the development and characteristics of picture books are presented in Part2, anglicizing the misunderstanding and predicaments faced in early-stage elementary school teaching. In Part3, the actual value of picture books adoption in primary school is systematically explained from the following aspects:pupils’ individual cognitive characteristic, close to mother language, life education and student intelligence; Finally, the progressing reading and kissing the child education in family are suggested as the effective methods for picture books teaching in lower-grade elementary school in Part4, including how to put the reading strategy into actual teaching practice.Picture Books are gaining their importance just in these years in china, therefore a great many of teachers and parents haven’t get full knowledge of them yet. With respect to reading teaching, the majority of teachers haven’t fulfilled their satisfying expectations, for which they are attempting to find the effective strategy for teaching picture books reading. Based on the data collected, this dissertation has attempted to provide some constructive comments to these problems in the discussion and suggestions for the teachers’ further study.
