Chinese Textbooks are a main carrier of Chinese course, and an important media for Chinese teaching and learning. The thesis aims to examine "Chinese Hundred Eight Units "from the perspective of Chinese educational modernization, which analyzes its background, compiling style, historical value and the limitations of the times, modern enlightenment. The thesis has four parts, in its first part, the author mainly researches the background of the textbooks from the reform in educational system and curriculum,and the author believes that Western-style education, with the generation of language teaching material and two editor’s views of language teaching material view has played an important role.In the second part, the author introduces unit system, classical Chinese words system and anthology system.The third part, from practical teaching module, grammar or rhetorical knowledge, analyzes its historical value. In the fourth Part, the author evaluates the limitations of the times in a developmental perspective.The fifth part discusses its modern enlightenment from the renewing of the Chinese textbooks at the early Republic of China,and analyzes its impact on the writing style of the current textbook.Finally the author thinks highly of its great contribution to modern Chinese education and Chinese textbooks, in order to provide useful reference to the construction of the current language teaching material.
