In order to improve the working efficiency and service quality of teachingmanagement and provide convenience for schools’ dynamic management anddecision-making, China’s higher institutions have all set up their own educationalwebsite, which has become the main place for school’s educational information.Meanwhile, the educational administration website is also an important medium forcolleges and universities to release information and advertise themselves.This report is based on the author’s after-class translation practice of academicaffairs office website of Hunan University (HNU), with Reiss’s and Newmark’s texttypology theory as basis, dividing the original text into two types, namely informativetext and vocative text, and putting forward translation strategies which are applicableto different texts according to their features.Firstly, the author analyses the background and significance of the task, and thendescribes the process, which includes preparation before translation, implementationof translation and proofreading of translation. The third part is case analysis, which isthe key part of this report, the first step is to analyze the difficulties in the translationprocess. Secondly, with the analysis of concrete examples, the author proposes sometranslation strategies for different text types of academic affairs office website ofHNU on the basis of text typology theory. The author applies the strategies ofexplanatory translation, division, rewrite, amplification, omission, conversion totranslate the informative text and the vocative text. In the end, the author makes aconclusion, which puts forward the problems and limitations in the translationpractice and summarizes experience and gains from the translation practice.At present, none of the domestic universities and colleges have set up the Englishversion for their educational administration website, there is no direct version forreference.
