In western developed countries, MPA (Master of Public Administration)professional degree education has been developed and improved for nearly onecentury. Its training aim is to train practical social public administration persons withhigh level and high-quality for government sector, enterprise and public institution orcorrelation non-profit organizations. Its training objectives are the persons in-servicewho come from government sectors or have relevant working experiences. MPAprofessional degree education has become gradually mature both in the aspects ofeducation mode and teaching method.As a western import, MPA has formally landed in China just only for more thanten years. But it develops very fast and has been paid most attention in boththeoretical and practical regions. It has obtained continuous progress and has becomeone of the important ways to export high-level public administration personnel of ourcountry. However, it is undeniable that there is still a certain gap of the MPAeducation in our country, compared with that in the developed countries. The industrydevelopment is not formal enough. The education methods are not flexible enough.The training system guarantee is not complete enough. The disposition of supervisorsfor master degree candidates is not equitable enough. International competitiveness isobviously insufficient. I found out the main problems of MPA education and teachingin our country by comparing the education mode, teaching methods and facultybetween China and foreign countries. I also proposed the corresponding developmentstrategy for each problem. I expect that my work can contribute to the development ofMPA professional degree education in our country.
