This research explained author’s understanding of functional training.Find out the negative issues of physical training by analyzing the specificity of volleyball sport and traditional training.Build the "functional training method for NJU female volleyball team"by using the functional training theory.Apply this method into daily training.try to improve the quality of physical training and athletes’ performance. This paper made an empirical study in the NJU professional female volleyball team, in order to provide the majority of physical training researchers and coaches with some valuable training ideas and methods,and to promote the development of physical training research domestically, which will benefit both the university volleyball training development and the physical training research significantly.Research methods used in this paper include the literature data method.the test method,the logic analysis method and the mathematical statistics method.Build up the physical test method of NJU female volleyball team including eight tests.Twelve athletes divided into two groups equally and randomly, experimental group use the "functional training method for NJU female volleyball team" and control group use the traditional training method.Collect the data by using Myotest device.Smart Speed device and the FMS test kit. then get the data statistical analyzed.the following conclusion are drawn:1.Experimental group’s FMS test result improved.which means the "functional training method for NJU female volleyball team" has a positive effect on improving functional move ability of the athletes,but there is no significant improvement differences between experimental group and control group.2.Experimental group’s 30m sprint test result improved,which means the "functional training method for NJU female volleyball team" has a positive effect on improving speed of the athletes、but there is no significant increase differences between experimental group and control group.3.Experimental group’s T-test result improved.which means the "functional training method for NJU female volleyball team" has a positive effect on improving agility of the athletes,and experimental group has a significant improvement than control group.4.Experimental group’s badminton test result improved,which means the "functional training method for NJU female volleyball team" has a positive effect on improving upper limb explosiveness of the athletes,and experimental group has a significant improvement than control group.5.Experimental group’s vertical jump test result improved,which means the "functional training method for NJU female volleyball team"has a positive effect on improving jump ability of the athletes,and experimental group has a significant improvement than control group.6.Experimental group’s 1RM squat,1RM bench press,1RM dead lift tests result improved,which means the "functional training method for NJU female volleyball team"has a positive effect on improving maximum strength of the athletes,there is no significant improvement differences between experimental group and control group on 1RM bench press,and experimental group has a significant improvement than control group on 1RM squat and 1RM dead lift.
