| The junior grade in elementary school is the important stage to develop the interest in reading, once the students in junior grade have the great interest in reading, it should be easy to have a good reading habit during the middle grade, which is also important to help them enhance the reading ability in the high grade.It is globally well known that the picture books are suit for the junior students best and picture books’ reading plays an important role in their reading experience. Nowadays, the development of picture books’ reading has attracted the concentration from people who concern the healthy growth of children.This paper is to introduce the reading situation through questionnaires and conversations with some junior grade students from one elementary school located in Hongkou district. Here are the conclusions, which were summarized by analyzing related elements-1. Video products caused impacts. 2. Limited reading materials. 3. Utilitarian reading attitude. 4. Less parents guides.This research attempts to base on the law of the psychological development and the character of perception of the junior students in elementary school to build up effective strategies for their reading habits’ cultivation through the picture books reading and the cooperation between teachers and parents. The strategies are: improving parents and teachers’ cognition about picture books by choosing different reading materials and creating good reading environment for children in classes and homes. These two strategies can encourage parents to participate in picture books reading and create good external reading environment for children relatively. I hope these could stimulate the junior students’ potential reading interest and cultivate it. Further more these could improve the speed of forming an elementary reading habit for them. |
