Under the influence of the worldwide educational open-resources activities, in November 2011, China has started to construct video open class of universities. After nearly four years of sustained development, the video open class of universities in our country has already made certain achievements, such as promoting educational equality, allowing educational resources to be shared. But there are also some problems, such grossly exaggerating the functions of the video open class,or neglecting the influences of them. This study aims to know the current development of the video open class, the learners’ evaluations of open video class, the learners’ expectations to its future development and their opinions about the relationship between the video open class and the entity of classroom teaching in universities, which based on the evaluations of course learners after analyzing the results of the survey. After the analysis of the survey, some problems were showed. On the external form of video open class, there are some problems on curriculum set, interactions between teachers and students, curriculum resources, teaching methods and learning supportive network platform and some related systems. On the internal form, there are problems as well, for example, the relationship between the entity of classroom teaching and video open class of universities is not clear. In order to get a better development of video open class, this thesis suggests that all sectors of the society should identify that the video open class are not the competitor of traditional classroom teaching, and also identify that the entity of classroom teaching is always the primary way of education in universities. The video open class is an extension of classroom teaching, whose development relies on the entity of universities education and stimulates the classroom teaching in universities. Therefore, to get the better development of future video open class, some strategies are proposed in the thesis: firstly, the relevant departments of Education Ministry should improve some policies to enhance the quality of curriculum, to promote the balanced development of the various courses, and then release other policies like “mutual recognition of credits” to encourage the learners to participate. Secondly, universities should clarify the relationship between traditional classroom teaching and the video open class, and encourage teachers to reform their teaching methods and to adapt to the needs of the times; in addition, universities should encourage students to participate in the video open class. Thirdly, some relevant organizations should improve the website construction of ICourse net, and build a complete, individual, traceable learning system based on the big-data era.
