With the proposed of urban-rural integration and other related social theory, the economy of our country develops rapidly. Large number of rural residents move into cities to get a job, and the children following their parents into the city have attained much attention. Moreover, the condition of their life has gradually become the research points of many scholars. Recently, some policies and regulations are published to protect the children moving with their family (migrant children) in law as much as possible. However, in the process of following their migrant parents, the psychological behavior and other aspects of these children will change when the environment has changed, and lack of confidence is one kind of phenomenon.Based on the research of predecessors, part of migrant children lack of self-confidence apparently, their confidence level is lower than the urban resident children significantly. Currently, the confidence problem of migrant children did not cause enough attention, the existing research was just stay on the overview of this phenomenon, and puts forward some suggestions and improving measures from the macro level. By conducting this research will help to enrich the confidence improvement activities of migrant children, it will also fill the gap in the field of school social work in the actual operation. Furthermore, it will help the migrant children to adapt better in the new urban life, and help them grow better to lay a good foundation for the future after stepping into society. What’s more, migrant children will change from "problem child" in the eyes of the teachers and students into a "good citizen" in the future society.In this paper, migrant children in grade five of DZQ primary school in Wuchang district of Wuhan city are welcomed for the study. After we settle in DZQ primary school and get familiar with the students and teachers, we use sociological research methods such as semi-structured interviews and observation methods to assess the demand of migrant children and the reason of lack of confidence based on taking the need of migrant children as breakthrough point. Moreover, we analysis the influence of lack of confidence on their daily life and suit the remedy to the case to find a solution to their lack of confidence so as to formulate specific work plan. Taking the needs of students as starting point, we carry out group activities on the theme of improving children’s self-confidence in small groups with professional social work method and show specific services in a style of small group plan. According to our team members’ feeling and realization, we conclude the results that the difference between membership’s intervene for help and traditional teaching in school to improve migrant children’s self-confidence are existing. Group work is free from limitations of various regulations, and it’s more efficient according to each member’s needs. What’s more, it is more helpful to increase self-confidence of members since more attention are paid to members involved in the process and change their psychological situation through group activities.The problems that would appear in this group work plan are assessed forward, and the corresponding solutions are projected. Moreover, qualitative and quantitative methods are taken used to assess the whole achievement of our team, and the effect of group work plan are summarized in the end.
