Video open class originated from the western famous universities belongs to one kinds of the open educational resources,its principle is to share resources and open free to the public.In recent years,the foreign universities set off a wave of "video open class",and its unique learning concept,learning environment,learning styles and learning content effectively stimulate the learners’ interest in learning and improve the learning efficiency.It became a popular and fashionable trend in many universities from Europe,and also became a hot topic of global education.Under its influence,China has launched a project which is "building boutique video open class" in 2011,hoping that the high quality learning resources in our country can be open to the public for free.After more than two years of construction and development,it has formed a certain scale of course.The focus of this paper is the college students how to use these high quality video open class to effectively carry out the practice of self-directed learning.Autonomous learning has been an important research topic in the field of education,especially the university students,having a strong ability of autonomous learning can not only guarantee the studies completed successfully,and is also very beneficial for their development of life when they enter into the society.Because of the rapid renewal and development of knowledge in the information age,using network has become an important trend for learning.Video open class as a kind of network learning resources,its rich content and form can not only improve the students’ interest in learning,but also is very convenient for students to carry out the practice of self-directed learning in their spare time.The research used the literature survey method and the method of content analysis to make a comprehensive theory review for the video open class and the self-directed learning of the students.After that,it takes the university students as the objects,through a questionnaire survey on their acquisition,application,evaluation and demand for video open class to find problems in the construction and operation of the video open class as well as the problems of the students learning video open class alone.Mainly as follows:the understanding degree for the video open class is not high enough,learning persistence is lower,the initiative is not strong,self-learning ability on video open class is poor and so on.Aiming at these problems,this paper takes "Mencius Cultural Spirit" video open class as an example,by means of learning cell platform,reference to the learning mode JITT,specifically carried out the practice of college students’ self-directed learning with the support of video open class.Through the practice and according to the feedback of the practice effects,finally,summarized and presented the strategies of self-directed learning with the support of video open class.
