This report is based on the translation of Bill Bryson's Icons of England.This prose anthology consists of 14 chapters telling the variety of characteristics in England from the aspects of the landscape,architecture,plant,human landscape,etc.,showing the British culture,and the affection of authors for the land.During the translation project,Katharina Reiss's theory of text typology,which systematically and comprehensively indicates translation methods depend on the types of texts,was adopted as the theoretical framework.Based on the original stylistic features and analysis of the types of texts,the author makes translation analysis with examples guided under the requests of expressive text,from the aspects of vocabulary,syntax,and paragraph,emphasizing the significance of aesthetic effects and delivering information faithfully,so as to achieve the purpose of targets readers' fully understanding.The application of various translation strategies for translation includes amplification,omission,literal translation,free translation,division,domestication and so on.Through the translation practice,the author concludes that the application of ttheoretical guidance and strategies for translation depend on the stylistic features of the source texts.
