A Study Of Interpreting Culture-loaded Expressions In Diplomatic C-E Interpreting—From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

China is enjoying a growing international status,a bigger say on international stages,a climbing influence around the globe and more attention from all corners of the world.In this process,there are many diplomatic occasions where foreign media find good opportunities,such as the NPC and CPPCC sessions,to learn about China,to have close contact with Chinese leaders,and to know about China's policies and conditions.Interpreting has helped a lot in overcoming the language obstacles.Therefore,interpreting plays a great role in this field.For interpreters,they face great challenges set by the culture-loaded expressions,such as the old sayings,proverbs,due to their conciseness and information-richness.The immediacy of interpreting requires interpreters to get full understanding of the expressions and interpret them in a very short period of time,which can be a tough challenge.This thesis will first study the previous literature in this field,and then the author will attempt to analyze and study the interpreting of culture-loaded expressions from the perspective of Skopos theory.The materials come from the press conferences in recent years.The author will try to collect and classify the culture-loaded expressions in the materials and finally come up with coping strategies of the interpreting of culture-loaded expressions based on Skopos theory.
