An E-C Translation Report On The Second World War (Excerpt)

The E-C translation report is based on the translation of “Their Finest Hour”,the second volume of The Second World War consisting of 6 volumes together,which was written by the former Britain Prime Minister Winston Churchill.As one of the tasks revealing the cruelty of wars,the translation of the source text is of significance.The translator composes the report from five aspects: introduction,task description,translation process,case analysis and conclusion.The introduction part is an introduction to the source of the translation task and the translation significance.The task description contains background introduction and requirements from the entrusting party.The translation process,consisting of before translation,while translation and after translation,is the main part of the report.Before translation is about some preparation work carried on ahead of the translation,such as choosing the guided translation theories,making translation schedule and glossary etc.;While translation main discusses quality control and process description;After translation contains evaluation after translation.The part of case analysis,which mainly focuses on analyzing difficulties in translation of titles,complicated sentences and the writing style with specific examples.Finally,the translator summarizes the deficiencies in the translation and some implications for future study.After finishing this translation task,the author has got that a qualified translator should be equipped with professional qualities,such as sufficient preparation work ahead of translation,effectively applying translation theories into real practice to guarantee the translation quality.It is hoped that this report could offer some inspiration for the MTI students.
