A Report On The Translation Of Medical Literature In Gynecological Oncology

With the improvement of economy,people's living standard has raised,which helps people resist the invasion of diseases.At the same time,the scientific researches and discoveries on pharmaceutics and treating methods have greatly improved people's health conditions.This endows the translation of medical literatures with a great significance as it promotes academic exchange in medicine and healthcare.The task of the translation includes two medical literatures,which are featured with professional,objective,and logical language in a normalized style to provide information about experimental results and medical discoveries for students from medical schools.According to Newmark's typology,texts aimed at conveying information to target readers belong to informative texts,and communicative translation that lays great importance on the target readers is suitable to be applied in the translation.Therefore,the translation is completed under the instructions of the communicative translation theory of Newmark.The translation strategy is to adapt to the needs of target readers.As medical literatures have a demand for the accurate and normalized translation,the adaption to the need of target readers is then explored and analyzed from these two aspects.The accuracy of translation is mainly reflected in the translation of names of chemicals,names of companies,abbreviations and ordinary medical terms,while the normalization of translation is generally demonstrated by the handling of the word formation,voice of sentences,sentence order,and format in the translation.As to the former,zero translation is adapted to translate medical terms and abbreviations,while amplification and literal translation are used to translate the ordinary medical terms.For the latter,voice conversion,sentence restructure,and format adjustments are used respectively.The objective of this translation report is to introduce the experimental discoveries and academic research in medical field for undergraduates from School of Medicine,promote medical exchanges,as well as provide advice about translation skills and strategy for the translation of medical literature.
