The source text chosen for translation practice report is the book Translation Changes Everything published by famous translation theorist Lawrence Venuti in2013 as the translation project.The book collects various academic papers on translation theory published by Lawrence Venuti since 2000.It is a comprehensive description and summary of Venuti's theoretical system,which expresses his thoughts on various aspects of translation.The translation project includes Chapter 10 “ Teaching in Translation” and Chapter 12 “ Translation Studies and World Literature” of the book Translation Changes Everything : Theory and Practice.According to Newmark's theory of text typology,the text is informative text.The translation of informative texts requires that the original information be faithfully transmitted to the readers.Therefore,The translator chose the communicative translation as the major translation strategy and semantic translation as the supplementary one in the translation.The translator analyzes the cases from the lexical,syntactic and textual levels,and adopts various translation techniques such as choice of word meaning,omission and cohesion to solve the translation difficulties.Through the translation project,the translator has learned to use translation theories and strategies,parallel texts and other assistant resources to guide translation practice.At the same time,the translator should constantly improve her translation ability and lay a solid foundation for better translation practice.
