A Practice Report On C-E Translation Project Of An Introduction To The Fountain Company And Projects

With the deepening of China's opening up and globalization,more and more Chinese companies are flooding into foreign markets.Thus,the demand of Chinese-English translation of product introduction texts is rising.This translation task is about an introduction to the fountain project,which aims to introduce the fountain project to foreign companies.This translation project is a C-E translation project of An Introduction to The Fountain Company and Projects.It was translated into English under the guidance of the theory of Text Typology put forward by Peter Newmark.According to Peter Newmark's Text Typology theory,in the source text,the most part of the content belong to the informative text,but there is also some content that can be seen as the expressive text.Therefore,both communicative translation and semantic translation were used in the translation process.What's more,with the guidance of communicative translation and semantic translation,the translator handled the translation difficulties with different translation skills,such as literal translation,conversion,paraphrase,division,addition and so on.In this report,the source text was analyzed from lexical features,syntactic features and textual features.At the lexical level,the translator analyzed the source text from four-character phrases,terminologies and category words.As for the syntactic features,the translator analyzed the source text from three aspects: run-on sentences,graceful sentences and active sentences and non-subject sentences.In addition,the translator also presented some difficulties and solutions in the process of translation.The translation difficulties can be divided into lexical level,syntactic level and textual level.And the translator handled these translation difficulties with the use of different translation methods and skills.
