A Research On The Self-governence Of Residents In "Village-to-community" In Wuxi Liangxi District

As China is under vigorous urbanization in recent years,the amount and scale of big cities and metropolis develop rapidly.Therefore,land,as a scarce resource,is increasingly needed during the process of urbanization,which also led to the prevailing phenomenon of9 village-to-community" in fringe areas between villages and cities.As a transition model,"Village-to-Community" originated from the process of transition from rural to urban communities,which is characterized with both urban and rural features.On the other hand,new issues and challenges arose due to "Village-to-Community",which had far-reaching effect on the stability and development of the society and the process of urbanization.Accordingly,the issue of "Village-to-Community" transition and post-transition governance becomes a focus a academics,which has important historical and modern significance to promote the healthy and coordinated development of grassroots democracy in our country.This thesis,based on international and domestic theories of residents and"Village-to-Community" governance,takes "Village-to-Communities" in Liangxi District of Wuxi as study subject to conduct research.Reference to official political documents,interviews and questionnaires were adopted to support the statistical analysis.Considering past and mature practice and experience on "Village-to-Community" construction in other regions,this thesis expects to explore the practice and measures to promote community self-governmence and residents participation.Through the investigation of Liangxi District of Wuxi,this paper discovered issues arose in the process of "Village-to-Community",including over-emphasize of community administration,lack of sense of social cohesion and awareness of self-governance,imbalance between the degree and scope of public participation,and deficiencies of the community autonomous institution.This paper expects to explore measures,such as eliminating the administration of community governance,enhancing people' sense and enthusiasm of participation,building platforms of residents participation,and strengthening the legal and institutional community autonomy construction,to provide theoretical and practical support to self-governance in the"Village-to-Community" in Liangxi District,and facilitate the development of"Village-to-Community" in Liangxi District.
