A Study On "Obama Doctrine"

In the field of diplomatic studies,the use of the leader's name and the labeling of the name with the word “doctrine” usually represent a high-level summarization to the stand and attitude and practical actions taken by the leader during his or her tenure on such problems including foreign policy judgment,ideas and policies.Such labeling examples can be found in “Monroe Doctrine”,“Truman Doctrine”,“Gaullism(Charles de Gaulle Doctrine)”,etc.During Obama administration's eight years in power,various sides have been holding disputes over whether his theories and practices in the diplomatic field should be generalized as “Obama Doctrine”.Therefore,at the expiration of President Obama's term of office and at the early stage of Trump administration's being in power,the significance of writing this dissertation comes out without saying.This dissertation consists of Introduction,Conclusion and the four chapters of the body.In the introduction part,the author explained the topic selection,difficulties and innovations of the dissertation,definition of “Obama Doctrine” as well as reviewed the research status at home and abroad.In the body of the dissertation,the author first analyzed the emerging background and characteristics of “Obama Doctrine”;after that,in chapter three,the author elaborated the strategies and measures of the specific practice of “Obama Doctrine” on issues including war against terrorism,the Syrian issue,the nuclear issue of Iran and “Rebalance to Asia” with the case study analyzing method;then in chapter four,the author further evaluated the practice effects of “Obama Doctrine”.In the last chapter,on the basis of the analysis of the first three chapters,the author summarized and illustrated “Obama Doctrine's” strategic influence on the Asia-Pacific region and Trump administration.As for the conclusion part,the author summed up the main points of the dissertation.
