With the development of the New Curriculum Reform,extracurricular reading has drawn extensive attention from the Chinese education.Reading is an important part of language learning.The student's reading ability is an important reference for measuring students' language ability.To improve students' reading ability,stimulate interest in language learning,improve language learning ability,and cultivate students' love for the motherland language and literature.With regard to this situation,the related discussion on reading teaching in the Chinese education circle has never stopped.In recent years,Hainan Middle School has been paying more and more attention to extracurricular reading.Through various literate activities,Hainan Middle School has constantly tried more effective teaching methods to improve students' reading ability and harvested good gains.According to the practical conditions in Hainan Middle School,the thesis adopts the survey method and interview method to investigate current extracurricular reading situations of Senior Grade students.It aims to analyze present problems and causes encountered by senior high school students in extracurricular reading and propose corresponding improvement measures,thereby contributing to the improvement of senior high school students' extracurricular reading situations.The part of Introduction presents the cause and meaning of topic selection,research situations of extracurricular reading,survey target,questionnaire design intention,and simultaneously clarifies the research survey methods.Chapter One starts from the perspective of college entrance examination reformation and new curriculum standards to expound the necessity and significance of extracurricular reading to senior high school students and provides an extensive background for the research.Chapter Two carries out an analysis on the extracurricular reading situations of Senior Grade students in Hainan Middle School by way of questionnaire data statistics and interview contents.Chapter Three points out problems existing in senior high school students' extracurricular reading process and observes corresponding causes in combination with the survey findings.Chapter Four raises teaching suggestions based on education theory and new curriculum standards.It stresses that students themselves should subjectively focus on extracurricular reading,schools and families should endeavor to create a favorable reading environment and teachers should organize all sorts of practical reading activities to reinforce the guidance for student extracurricular reading.
