With the introduction of the concept of discipline core competencies,the teaching of history is no longer just focus on imparting knowledge on the history,culture more emphasis on the quality of thinking and academic abilities of students.As an important material and auxiliary tool of history teaching,history map has its vital significance for stimulating students' interest in learning,enhancing students' historical understanding and cultivating the students' value concept,essential character,historical thinking and ability with its intuitive and vivid characteristics.Taking the history discipline of junior high school as the research platform,and the historical map as the research object,this paper analyzes the current situation and existing problems of historical maps' application in the history teaching of junior high school.And combined with the specific teaching cases,this paper discusses the methods and strategies of using the history map in junior high school history teaching with the focus on cultivating students' core competencies of history subject.Through the research,mastering the method of using historical map to help train students' core competencies of history discipline.In the research of this article,the subject of the introduction presented the reason for the selection,analyzes the relationship between the core competencies of history discipline and the history map,introduces the purpose and the meaning,the thought and the method of the study,and summarizes the study of the history map teaching.The first part,based on the training requirements of core competencies of history discipline,the author makes a questionnaire survey and interview on the application of the historical map in junior high school history teaching,and analyzes the problems existing in the current history map teaching.In the second part,based on the problems existing in the teaching of historical maps' application and the requirements of cultivating the students' core competencies of history subject,this paper puts forward some suggestions for reading and drawing historical maps,using historical maps to create problematic situations,combining with the historical map for emotional experience,building multivariate correlation of historical maps,and comparing historical maps.At the same time,this part further analyzing the problems that should be paid attention to in the historical map teaching activities from the aspects of curriculum resourcesdevelopment,historical map selection,teachers' teaching methods and teaching concepts.The third part based on the above practice and inquiry,takes the example of "the Silk Road of communicating Chinese and foreign civilization","the history of China(the first volume of seventh grade)" in 2016 edition of people's education publishing house,to show the practice case of history map teaching,and analyze the case of history map teaching.
