In-service training is an important way to promote the professional development of teachers.Currently,due to the acute shortage of teachers,primary school teachers in rural areas have to teach multiple disciplines so as to implement all the required curriculum.Under such circumstances,it is difficult to guarantee the teaching quality,for those teachers have not been trained for multiple disciplines.In order to improve their teaching level,and balance the education development between urban and rural areas,it is urgent to train high-quality generalist teachers for rural primary schools.Therefore,the free target training of normal school students for multiple subjects has been an essential policy in China and also an important measure of offering teachers for rural primary schools,which,however,takes a long time to accomplish.In view of this,carrying out generalist training for on-the-job teachers in rural primary schools is undoubtedly becoming vital.In this paper,some research methods including literature review,questionnaire survey,statistical analysis,etc.are adopted.Through consulting extensive literature on teacher training as well as generalist training,and studying the policies and regulations related to teacher education,the paper,based on the analysis of the current situation and shortcomings of generalist training research,points out the necessity of generalist teacher training.What's more,a self-designed questionnaire was used to investigate the in-service rural teachers' education and training in S County,Anhui Province.After statistical analysis,the results show that there exist several problems in present training:(1)There is a gap between training content and the actual needs of teachers.(2)The training mode is not diverse enough.(3)Rural primary school teachers are not highly motivated to participate in training.(4)The evaluation and incentive mechanism for the training needs improving.(5)There is inadequacy in training pre-investigation and post-tracking.In view of the above-mentioned problems,this paper puts forward some strategies to enhance the efficiency of generalist teacher training in rural primary schools:(1)The teacher trainers should be trained to improve their professional competence.(2)The modes for training generalist teachers should be innovated.For example,we can carry out U-G-S training,online-and-offline mixed training and so on.(3)It is necessary to construct a curriculum system in line with the actual needs of rural primary schools.(4)The assessment and evaluation of teachers in training should be strengthened,and then an incentive mechanism is suggested to promote the autonomy of teachers.(5)The guarantee mechanism in time and funding needs to be perfected forthe teacher training.
